TWO women who claimed to be victims in a series of sex attacks have both been arrested, police said.
A spokesman said they were no longer looking into allegations of rape in a city car park from an 18-year-old.
The other 19-year-old student had claimed she was dragged into a lane and attacked the day after a woman, 30, was raped on September 18.
Both teenagers have been charged with wasting police time.
Det Chief Insp Lee Johnson, of Carlisle police, said yesterday: “We are not looking for anyone in connection with this.”
Students in the city were told not to walk home alone after four alleged sex attacks in a fortnight.
A man has been arrested in connection with one assault. An e-fit of another man police wish to talk to in connection with the first attack has been released.
