So rape claims aren't taken seriously? Reuters says the claim against Strauss-Kahn could impact "the well-being of the global economy"
How often do we hear that rape claims are not taken seriously?
A Reuters headline screamed: "Strauss-Kahn allegations are consequential for the global economy." The sexual assault accusation against IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the article proclaims, "could also impact the IMF, France, market uncertainty and the well-being of the global economy."
A London paper says that Strauss-Kahn "has been destroyed overnight."
Other news announced that the allegation has affected the stock market: "The stock market Banks led European equity markets lower on Monday as the weekend arrest of International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn cast a shadow over a meeting of euro-zone finance ministers to discuss the region’s ongoing debt crisis."
U.S., Texas congressman Ron Paul, right-wing presidential candidate, said this: "These are the kinds of people who are running the IMF, and we want to turn the world's finances and the control of the money supply [over] to them?"
All because of a disputed rape allegation. Right now, that's all it is. I have no idea if a crime was committed, and neither do you.
But I know one thing: the entire world is taking very seriously -- and perhaps way too seriously -- the word of an unnamed maid it knows nothing about.
